I have advised or litigated employee v. independent contractor issues, covenants not to compete, wage and hour matters, employment discrimination cases, prevailing wage cases before the Nevada Labor Commissioner and unfair labor practice cases before the National Labor Relations Board. In addition to federal and state courts, I have litigated matters before the National Labor Relations Board, the Nevada Employee-Management Relations Board, the Nevada OSHA Review Board and worker’s compensation matters before Nevada hearing officers and appeals officers. I have extensive experience in Title VII and Americans With Disabilities Act litigation, including defending employers against discrimination claims of all kinds. I have handled in excess of 25 arbitration hearings before arbitrators appointed pursuant to collective bargaining agreements and consensually-assigned arbitrators. I have appeared before the Nevada Supreme Court, United States District Court for the District of Nevada, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
I am a Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America, a professional association of litigation lawyers. Since 2007 I have been listed in The Best Lawyers in America and in Nevada Super Lawyers and Mountain State Super Lawyers for labor and employment law. For 2019, I have been listed in Best Lawyers for Employment Law-Management, Labor Law-Management, Litigation-Labor and Employment, and Workers Compensation Law-Employers. I received the accolade of 2020 Lawyer of the Year for my work in Labor Law-Management in Las Vegas. I was selected to the top 40 or 50 women attorneys in the Mountain State Super Lawyers for multiple years. I am AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell. I am the Nevada member of the Wage & Hour Defense Institute. I have received special recognition for my Pro Bono work before the Nevada Supreme Court.
I earned a Bachelor of Arts with High Honors in Political Science from the University of Cincinnati in 1974, where I graduated summa cum laude. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Wright State University in 1974, where I graduated summa cum laude. I attended the University of Cincinnati College of Law, where I received my J.D. in 1977. I was also a member of the University of Cincinnati Law Review.
My court admissions include the State Bar of Arizona, the Court of Appeals of the Navajo Nation, the State Bar of Nevada, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
